we are

At Dance Social Club (DSC), we believe dance is for everyone. We are a casual social club and creative outlet based in NYC. We aim to create a fun space for all to explore dance movements and experience creativity, confidence, and community.

DSC started as a small gathering of friends who wanted a safe space to explore dance and have fun together. What began as one event has grown into a community of people who show up to move, laugh, and cheer each other on. DSC is hosted by friends, for friends (no professional training offered).

Our events do not require dance experience and are ideal for those who are absolutely-new-to-dance, want to meet new people, or are looking to try a different physical hobby in a judgement-free space!

Explore what we offer

DSC

Our main event is a gathering where the host facilitates an intro circle, guided stretches, and easy choreography. We end the night with practice in small groups and attendees often grab a bite to eat or drinks after! We host recurring dance trend pop ups, popular artist nights, and boy band themed events!

Seasonal Dance Parties

We are aiming for one dance party per season to bring the community together, practice our moves in a fun environment, and celebrate LIFE! We have hosted at cafes and community spaces - next up, boat party!

Brand Activations

Are you looking to host a brand activation for a community interested in social wellness, recreation, dance or physical fitness? We have introduced CPG products to our community such as Undercurrent, 50Hertz, and Red Bull. Reach out to collaborate!

Collaborations & Private Events

Are you interested in hosting a DSC-style private event for a birthday or a corporate event? We have collaborated with many NYC-based organizations to host fundraisers and co-create event programming. Let’s ideate together!

FAQs

What ways can I access DSC?

We offer 2 free community spots for those who may need some financial flexibility on a first-come-first-serve basis depending on capacity (you must reach out to @notedbyneen or notedbyneen@gmail.com on the Monday of the week of that event to inquire for a spot).

DSC hosts seasonal parties which may range from $25-$75 depending on the activity.

DSC will collaborate with other community organizations at $15-$25 per ticket and occasionally host donation-based events to increase accessibility to the community.

How do I attend a DSC event?

You can purchase a ticket to our standard DSC events on the “Upcoming Events” page, with full event details on each event’s Partiful page. Our special events and collaborations will be hosted on different platforms, primarily Partiful, and all details for how to purchase tickets will be listed on those pages. We typically host our events at studios located in Midtown West. All DSC events are 18+ only.

No, we are not a dance class. This is a creative social experience. We release our schedule of events in advance, build in opportunities to socialize, and share easier moves repeatedly so everyone can keep up. Our main goal is to have fun and be silly in a low pressure environment and build community. You can think of us like a run club, but for dancing. There is no professional training offered here. DSC is hosted by friends, for friends. If you are seeking dance training, there are plenty of incredible professional dance teachers and studios in New York that we are happy to recommend to you!

At DSC, we believe EVERYONE can dance. This experience is designed for YOU! We have a casual environment where we break down the moves slowly and repeat them until everyone follows as much as they can. You can chat with other attendees and there are plenty of opportunities to practice and ask questions.

What levels or styles does DSC offer?

There are no “levels” at DSC because these are not dance classes, they are socials! Our events do not require any dance experience. We typically share “basic choreography” at dance-trend level of easy, which is often inspired by hip hop, jazz funk, and street styles. We have also hosted dance nights for breakdance, swing dance, Bhangra, jazz/musical theater, and country line dancing.

Our hosts are dance enthusiasts, not professionals. We’re all friends here :)
