Who we are
At Dance Social Club (DSC), we believe dance is for everyone. We are a casual social club and creative outlet based in NYC. We aim to create a fun space for all to explore dance movements and experience creativity, confidence, and community. We are like a run club, except for dancing!
DSC started as a small gathering of friends who wanted a safe space to explore dance and have fun together. What began as one event has grown into a community of people who show up to move, laugh, and cheer each other on. DSC is hosted by friends, for friends.
Our events do not require dance experience and are ideal for those who are absolutely-new-to-dance, want to meet new people, or are looking to try a different physical hobby in a judgement-free space!
Our Story
In July 2025, Nina hosted a small dance fundraiser for her friends and friends-of-friends after two different social circles asked her to show them some moves. As she began to collaborate with more local organizations, she developed a small following. Thanks to Partiful, she has also been able to reach more people and grow DSC organically. By March 2026, after selling out a weekly DSC event 8 weeks in a row and receiving encouraging feedback from the community, Nina decided to go all in to grow Dance Social Club as big as it is meant to become.

Meet Nina
Nina grew up in a traditional household as the daughter of Chinese immigrants from Fuzhou and followed a conventional path for the first quarter of her life.
She has always loved to dance, as seen by the childhood videos of her dancing around with her siblings as a little girl. She started to explore this interest in college with her breakdancing and Bollywood teams, and she began to take dance classes at the age of 25 in New York, mainly in the styles of jazz funk, hip hop, and street styles. She has no formal professional training in dance.
Her background is in consulting, strategy, business operations. and pricing across startups, Big Tech, and finance companies. When she took a sabbatical from her corporate career in March 2025, she was uncertain what was next, launching passion projects, engaging with AAPI community organizations, and consulting for a startup before all paths ultimately led to creating DSC. Her vision is to build a belonging ecosystem, one where everyone can feel truly free to experience joy, without pressure.
Nina has found her purpose, which is to magnify light in this world. She is a hopeful romantic designing a fulfilling life pursuing art through dance and storytelling.
